Great Guide To Treating and Preventing Back Pain – Recommeded,
This book is a good starting place for anyone who has been “laid-up” due to a back injury. I have hurt my back participating in sports, working in the yard, and once just getting out of my chair (seriously), and have tried some very silly things to get relief (like hanging upside down on playground equipment). This book addresses the causes, types, and treatment options. Here are my observations:
+ Layout; logically organized and easy to navigate to the sections of interest
+ Useful Information; provides guidance to help determine the type of back problem, how to describe it to medical professionals, how to get treatment, and preventative methods to prevent back issues
+ Detailed Information; for those that want more, provides in-depth guides to the spine and the back, including illustrations of the vertebra, discs, etc
I also like that it has sections covering a wide range of causes other than injury (such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, slipped disc, kidney issues, etc), and covers a wide range home and professional treatment options (everything from ointments to surgery).
As with any book giving medical advice, check with your primary care physician before significant self medication, treatment, or exercise program.
Recommended!
